Funky Skunk, a jazz-funk band from France

I would like to finish this first funky page of Groovy Dude LP's presenting you an awesome french jazz-funk band, Funky Skunk.


The story takes place in Amiens. A jazz funk master, having fled the U.S., is assassinated by his rival. Splinter, who learned to play the Rhodes by observing him, takes refuge in the sewers. There he takes in 4 baby musicians who had fallen there by accident. Exposed to a radioactive and strangely funky substance, the musicians mutate and change into skunks.

Splinter teaches each one to master an instrument in the hope of creating an odoriferous jazz-funk combo. He teaches Davidello the art of the Rhodes, sharp as a razor blade; to Kennyello, mastery of the bass thumping like a billyclub; to Raphaelo the technique of the alto and soprano saxophone, and the bass clarinette, notes shining like ninja stars; and to Joslinello the secrets of the drum set, percussive like a submachine gun.

In this way the group Funky Skunk was born, the only common point between Herbie Hancock and The Monty Pythons..their war cry: "You're a rotten egg!"


L'histoire se passe à Amiens. Un maître du jazz-funk ayant fui les Etats Unis est assassiné par son rival. Splinter, qui a appris à jouer du Fender Rhodes en l'observant, se réfugie dans les égouts.

Il y recueille 4 bébés musiciens tombés là par accident. Exposés à une substance radioactive étrangement funky, les musiciens mutent et se changent en putois.

Splinter enseignera alors à chacun la maîtrise d'un instrument dans l'espoir affiché d'en faire une formation de Jazz-funk odorante. Il enseigne à Davidello l'art du Fender Rhodes, tranchant comme une lame de rasoir, à Kennyello la maîtrise de la Jazz Bass, claquante comme une matraque, à Raphaëlo les techniques des saxophone alto, soprano, de la clarinette basse, cinglants comme des étoiles de Ninja, et à Joslinello les secrets du break improbable, percutant comme la foudre...

Ainsi naîtra le groupe Funky Skunk, seul point commun entre le Jazz/Funk 70’s et La classe Américaine (un flim qui n'est pas un flim sur le cyclimse, merci de votre compréhension).
